Having power rain or shine, reducing your electricity bill, everything is possible using a hybrid system.
This is a type of grid-connected system that produces and stores energy in a way that:
Store it in a battery bank and use it as an emergency (backup) system in the event of a power outage.
Power the devices in the house according to the desired periods of the day.
Reduce your electricity bill and participate in the net metering program.*
*This option may allow you to obtain credits on your Hydro-Québec bill. For more information, please inquire about the net metering program.
All our kits come with the cables necessary for connection, the protective devices and a connection plan.
Solar field power: 10,000W
The solar field of this system could produce on average 30,312Wh daily considering approximately 1213 hours of annual sunshine**.
Solar panels included:
- 16 545W Monocrystalline solar panels
Batteries included:
Due to its high energy efficiency, the system includes 1 Rack Mount 51.2V 200Ah lithium battery. of the Volthium
Storage capacity: 10 240W
Regulator and inverter included:
The regulator included in this kit is the Deyes 8Kw hybrid inverter which also acts as an inverter and charger.
The hybrid regulator/inverter/charger is a 3-in-1 accessory that allows you to:
- Transform battery current into 120V/240V.
- Recharge the system batteries using a generator in the event of prolonged gray weather.
- Connect the solar system to a generator and transform the current if more power is needed.
The Phocos Any-Grid hybrid inverter/charger is suitable for lead-acid, AGM, Gel and Lithium deep cycle batteries.
Features:
The inverter/charger is a 3-in-1 accessory that allows you to:
Transform the battery current into 120V/240V.
- Recharge the system batteries using a generator in the event of prolonged gray weather.
- Connect the solar system to a generator and transform the current if more power is needed.
The device is suitable for deep cycle lead-acid, AGM, Gel and Lithium batteries.
Features:
Inverter:
Inverter type: Pure sine.
Transforms the current into 120 or 240V.
Suitable for 48V systems.
Continuous output power at 25°C: 8,000W
Automatic transfer switch: Yes
The Sol-Ark Hybrid Inverter/Charger features:
1 display screen
2 MPPT
Charger:
Maximum charger power: 190A
The intelligent charger automatically adapts to the needs of the battery. It can be programmed to obtain the desired power.
Protection system included:
1 Disco combination box
1 Midnite Birdhouse Emergency Switch
1 Terminal fuse block 30-300A
1 Fusible Bluesea
1 Midnite 60A Manual Transfer Case
1 Enclosure red handle 4x-3r12
1 100A electrical panel from Siemens
4 15A Twin circuit breakers
2 Siemens circuit breakers 20A 120V
In the event of an outage, the all-in-one device mentioned in the previous section activates to become the home's power source. The alternative electrical box is responsible for distributing to the devices in the house that are connected to the system and preventing surges.
Combination boxes and fuse blocks ensure that system devices are protected.
In the event of a power surge, the circuit breakers must be manually reset to allow the system to operate again.
Brackets and fixings included:
Type of support: On the roof
The panels are fixed to a rail system on the roof in 1 row of 12 panels or 2 of 6.
The set includes sealant and fastening systems to avoid any risk of water infiltration.
As the panels are guaranteed by the manufacturer for 25 years, we strongly recommend redoing the roof if it is starting to show its age.
Other types of brackets and fixings may be available.
Connection plan included:
All our solar kits come with a connection plan to help you install your equipment if you wish to do it yourself.
However, since your devices will be connected to the Hydro-Québec or your municipality's network, an electrician will have to make the connection.
The services of an electrician may be included if you decide to opt for installation by our team.
We strongly recommend that installation be done by certified professionals. To have your installation evaluated, speak to one of our advisors.
Before proceeding:
We advise you to have your project approved before purchasing your equipment. Different regulations may apply depending on the territory where you are installing. Also, each electricity supplier has its own rules to govern this practice.
In addition, as mentioned in the previous section, you will also need to hire a master electrician. At your request, we can help you with your procedures and direct you to resources before completing your purchases.
Funding and grants:
Grants available: yes
Value: Up to $5000
As part of its program to reduce the use of fossil fuels and improve the energy efficiency of homes, the Canadian government has established the Canada Greener Homes Grant.
Installing solar panels and a battery bank could allow you to obtain up to $5,000 to finance your project.
Net metering option: Yes*
This type of installation could allow you to take advantage of the net metering program which allows you to return the surplus energy produced and reduce your electricity bill.
To be eligible for this program, your residence must be served by Hydro-Québec and an application must be completed.
To learn more about the different options, read the blog article on the subject or contact a member of our technical team.
Technical advice:
The components of our solar systems are compatible together. However, the sets are presented to you for information purposes only, we cannot guarantee that they meet your energy needs. It is your responsibility to ensure the sufficiency of the solar systems you purchase. You can contact our advisors for additional information.
**The average sunshine time represents that of Quebec City. The calculation was made by considering in particular the following variables: south orientation, angle of inclination equal to the latitude and no shading. The actual sunshine time depends in particular on the location, orientation, temperature, shading and other parameters specific to your installation. Solar system proposals and plans are for illustrative purposes only. Each installation has its particularities and it is your responsibility to ensure in particular the conformity and sufficiency of your installation.
It is also your responsibility to ensure that the installation is carried out by someone with the necessary skills. By purchasing a solar system, you release us from any liability or damage, on any grounds whatsoever, directly or indirectly linked in particular to the quality or conformity of your installation. Please ensure that the cable lengths and connectors are sufficient for the installation you plan to make. Additionally, because your solar system equipment produces electricity, make sure you know the precautions to take when handling it. Improper installation can damage the components of your system or cause damage to neighboring installations or other property that may be located there. Under no circumstances will we be held liable for such damage.
